January Jupiter

This shot of Jupiter was made during the CMS Astronomy club meeting January 12, 2012. It was rather hazy but some detail still came through. It is a composite of 50 images stacked and processed using RegiStax software.

Total Lunar Eclipse

These eclipse shots were taken from my home on the morning of Dec. 9-10 using a little Meade 4 inch SCT and a Nikon D50 Camera. Unfortunately the focus was lost during the sequence and the moon set just prior to totality! Still it was quite a show.

Supernova in M101

This image of M101, the Pinwheel galaxy, shows the recently discovered Type Ia supernova just 10 days after its explosion (as seen from Earth). Click on it to see the whole image. M101 was very near the horizon and there was smoke from wildfires in the air so the seeing wasn\'t great, but the supernova and a few arms of the spiral galaxy can be seen. The image was a 90 second exposure.

This image of M13 in Hercules was taken with the \"big\" scope and camera. Once again the scope and camera are getting along well with the computer and doing what they were designed to do!

This nice view of Saturn was taken through the C-8 using an Orion Solar System Star Shoot color imager. It was a beautiful night with great seeing! The observing session even ended with a meteor flaming over head!

This hydrogen alpha image was taken 4-11-11 through the Coronado PST using an Orion Star Shoot Solar System Color Imager. I haven\'t figured out how to stack solar images very well so this is just a single from from a 5 second video clip.
